In windows xp I can search for files containing a phrase (i.e. a phrase that
is in the document not in the file name)

How do you do this in Vista?

thank you

In the Vista search window, I simply put the phrase in quotes as "look for
this phrase".

It should be enabled by default for some file types such as text files. All
you have to do is type the search item in the search box on the start menu.
If you find that the specific file that you want the contents to be indexed
is not indexed:

1) Open up the indexing options (Type 'indexing Options' in the search box
in the start menu, or find it in the Control Panel)
2) Click the advanced button at the bottom of the screen (You may need to
approve a UAC Prompt)
3) Chose the tab that says 'File Types'
4) Scroll through until you find the file type that you wish to index the
contents
5) In the area below that says 'How should this file be indexed?' make sure
the second option is selected (Index Properties and File Contents)
