Vista peer group network printer connection

We have added a new Vista computer to our XP network. We have five or six XP
machines all printing on two printers on one of the computers. When I added
the Vista machine and tried to add a network printer I got a message
saying...Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access is denied. The XP
computer that has the two printers attached is a Media Center version.

This is a new one to me.

I am having exactly the same problem. The Vista system sees my other
computers and sees the printers, but will not let me connect, access is
denied.

Do you have the file and printersharing enabled in the Network centre from
Vista?
And is the user account from Vista allowed as a (printer) user on the XP
machine?

Easiest way to do this I've seen - visit the printer's web page and download
Vista drivers for it. Install those drivers on the Vista PC. When it asks
where the printer is, you should have the option of a network printer. Then,
give it the UNC address of your shared printer \\mycomputer\myprinter with
whatever computer and printer name applies. Worked for me...
