Vista & Outlook 2002- compatibility mode?

Hi,

I just got a new PC with Windows Vista Ultimate. I currently own a copy of
Microsoft Office XP, which came with Outlook 2002. I installed Outlook 2002
on Vista and I am having a few problems:

1. I constantly get a message saying that "a program is trying to access
email addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this?"
Even though I choose to allow it for 10 minutes (the longest choice
available), the same message keeps coming back over and over again.
2. Even though I have told Outlook to remember the password for my POP3
account, it never remembers it. To check my email, I usually have to click
send and receive twice. The first time, I get a logon error. The second
time, I have to enter my password again but it usually works.

I saw somewhere on this forum that only Outlook 2003 and 2007 are vista
compatible. I want to upgrade to Office 2007, but I was hoping I could get
by with the older version for a few months because my budget is very tight.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any workarounds for the problems I am
experiencing, or if anyone has had any luck running Outlook 2002 on Vista in
compatibity mode?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

There have been several posts describing how to get Outlook 2002 to work
(although not perfectly) on Vista. Google Groups will find them.

I have the same issues. Did you receive any fix or has Microsoft offered any
help?
Thanks in advance

Hi Jim,

I did not find a fix, but I didn't spend too much time looking. I ended up
deciding to upgrade to Outlook 2007.

Regards,
Paul
