Vista or XP?

Still got years of support left.

Thousands upon thousands? Can you name some, I've yet to come across a
game that doesn't work in Windows Vista.

Battlefield 1942 does not run very good. No crosshairs, so to me, that's a
deal breaker. Menu is screwed up. I have the latest Vista Nvidia drivers.
I am hoping it's just the Nvidia drivers need updating and by Jan/Feb, this
will be fixed. I have Vista in 1 removable drive and XP in the other,
hoping I can make the switch soon. But not until BF1942 works, as this is
still the game I play the most.

If you've had no problems with Fable, I'd LOVE to know what you did cause
I've had nothing BUT problems with Fable! I thought I had it running, played
through the whole intro/tutorial then got hit with the black screen again as
soon as it cut to a movie! Hitting escape enough times to cancel out all the
movies doesn't do me any good (not that I'd want to play an RPG without
seeing the movies to know the story anyways!) as the black screen remains
when the gameplay begins anew.

I have the same problem with Fable as many other posters: Screen goes black
during intro-movie but sound is still going in the background.

Since both Vista and Fable are Microsoft-products, why is it so hard to make
a update/patch so it'll work in Vista? I've found for some of my other games.

I'm running on a brand new laptop:
Win Vista Home Premium
Intel Core2 CPU T5500 (Dual Core) @ 1,67Ghz
2GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600

Most programs I usually use work great in Vista (allthough, had to update
some) but the games really suck...

That really does show respect for the people who developed platforms on
microsoft products.
...NOT!

The only problem with staying with XP is that Microsoft is going to stop
supporting it. So no more security updates, core fixes, patch files, ect....

The main problem with Vista is that it does not support the THOUSANDS upond
THOUSANDS of game titles out there already. Most of them you can not even
install, and even if you tell Vista to run it in XP MODE it still crashes.

So once again it leaves us stuck within a rock and a hard place.
Hi There,
I hope I've put this in the right space, my son has a direct 10 geforce
8800 very nice fast card in XP.
He has just gone over to Vista Premium just to play Halo 2 no matter what's
done
this game will not work. I phoned for help there's no: on box but the phone
quaility
was so poor it was no good. But help was there if my phoneline worked.
Getting back to your point about XP or Vista Warcraft Fear Half Life quite a
lot of games play on his machine, but personally I would listen to the advice
to stick with XP at present because if a game made only for Vista is having
problems, there are so many different PCs out there, there is going to be
problems at first, I'd shelve
Vista for awhile, remember XP at first, give it time when it's more stable
you can think again, but when you get the chance the 8800 is a lovely card.
Prices are coming down a bit.
Sandy.

I have the exact same problem with Fable, so I've been glad to find I'm by
far not the only one. But I'm very discouraged to see that this problem has
been around for a while with no obvious fixes available.
