Sorry for posting here.
But I haven't been able to find a vista-specific newsgroup on my ISP's list
of supported newsgroup.

Does one exist?

of supported newsgroup.

I can't tell you what your ISP provides, but I recommend using the
server msnews.microsoft.com for Microsoft newsgroups. It's more direct
access to any of the MS groups, including this one, and therefore
better. (Just in case you're not aware of it, Outlook Express, which I
see that you're using, supports multiple news servers).

And yes, you will find the full range of Vista newsgroups there.

Great and many thanks, I never even knew that I could access other news
servers apart from those provided by my ISP.

You're welcome and glad to help. Many people don't know that. I use
four different news servers here.
