I upgraded to Windows Vista Home Premuim, and I'm trying to put all of my
previous desktop icons (Itunes, AOL, etc.) from Windows XP. I know thefiles
are still here on my PC in the C drive, but I'm clueless as to how to upload
everything now that I'm upgraded to Vista. Please help...: (

If you've shut off the Get Started with Windows screen, from the Start
button, go to Control Panel and under System and Maintenance there is a link
to it. Click that and in the window that opens there is an icon called
transfer files and settings. Give that a try.

Hi,

An upgrade would have preserved user accounts, programs, settings, and
files. I suspect that this is not what you did, but rather have a clean
install of Vista where the old operating system is preserved in Windows.old.
You may need to take ownership or change permissions to access this folder
and recover data from it (just check Help & Support for the steps, it's well
documented). The programs will need to be reinstalled under the new
operating system, you can't just pull them over as they will be missing
needed registry entries and files placed in the user-defined run
environment.
