vista network browsing

It appears that on several Vista machines it takes an unusually long time to
enumerate the computer on the network and domain. I read that Link Layer
Topology Discovery can be applied to XP boxes, but I think that only applies
to the graphical mapper. I'm only trying to view a list of computers in the
network folder in the control panel. Has anyone experienced a similar issue
and found a fix? Turned the firewall off.

thanks,

Bill

the net view command enumerates the hosts very quickly. after running that
command, I went to the gui to enumerate the network, and it's the familiar
slow population of hosts on the network.
