Vista/Longhorn deployment tools -> Ximage

Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can get the Vista Deployment Tools??
I downloaded Vista from MSDN yesterday and installed it, works perfectly but
I was looking for the deployment tools and specifically for the wim imaging
tools. I attended a session at TechEd on longhorn deployment and I can't wait
to try those tools. It'll make my deployment tasks *much* easier.
Are the deployment tools only available for official vista beta testers? Or
are they not released yet?

Cheers, Michiel

There are none since Vista is only in beta.

Hi Carey,

Are you 100% sure about that? The session at TechEd was presented by Manu
Namboodiri, he specifically told us that microsoft made a mistake with XP by
not releasing all the necessary deployment tools in early beta's. They
learned from that mistake and all deployment tools where supposed to be
released with or around beta 1. He even urged us to try them out with beta1!
There also is an article on technet/vista about the deployment tools with
command line options and all, bit strange to write an article and not release
the tools right??

Maybe you can check with someone as you are an MVP?

Cheers, Michiel

Michael,

The tools (WAIK - Automated Instalation and Deployment Tools for Beta 1) are
available to participants in the Windows Vista and Windows "Longhorn" Server
Beta 1 Technical Beta Program.

I talked to Manu today. He said the tools would be available on MSDN
subscriber downloads very soon, and would also be in the September TechNet
Plus beta shipment.
