Vista keeps freezing up when I try and install wireless adapter

I bought a new Dell XPS system with vista premium and it came in the mail
yesterday

I've installed everything, and although there are a few problems, its going
fine so far
Except when I try and go onto the internet

Me and my family share computers and the main computer is a 5month old dell
that's connected to the internet router

So with this new computer I bought a USB flash disk drive so it will be able
to pick up the wireless signals from downstairs
Because of compatibility issues, I have to install it through the microsoft
hardware installation method and yesterday it was working
Untill randomly, the whole system froze
I had to restart it a couple of times, because the screen wouldnt boot up,
so eventually I did a system restore and tried to install the program again
But now everytime I either put the disc in or after the installation is
complete the system freezes again.

Me and my dad have switched the towers and the internet works fine when the
computer is connected through the router

But if possible I want to try and keep this computer upstairs, mainly
because its a better model, and i'll have better use for it than my family.

Any help would be appreciated

Yes its a wireless adapter, the USB flash disk, rather than using a wireless
card
And the make is a Dynamode
