Vista interfering with printer driver install

I have a Lexmark 8350 all-in-one printer. All the functions were working
fine until end of last year when the scanning function stopped working.
I contacted Lexmark regarding the problem through their online
messaging. It was an online form that you fill out and they email you
back. BUT they didn't email me back.

So, yesterday I thought if I downloaded and reinstalled the printer
driver maybe the scanning function would work. Well, now I have no
printer at all!

The driver downloaded okay and appeared to install okay but then Windows
Vista became part of the equation. It of course found new hardware and
was going through whatever steps it goes through to find new hardware
drivers and hangs at a point and then the printer driver is not installed.

I didn't have this problem when I initially installed the printer driver
so why am I having it now and what can I do to get my printer operating
again?

I'm getting absolutely no help from Lexmark after contacting them again.

Thanks for your help!
Kay C.

Important Support News
Attention Windows Vista Users
If you have installed your printer on your PC using an original Lexmark
Driver CD that came with your product and you are experiencing problems when
printing, you may have installed the Windows XP driver.

Follow these steps to resolve:
· Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
· Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC.
· Download the correct Vista driver for your model.
· Install the driver on your PC.

Important - Do not reconnect the USB cable until the install software
prompts the question of how the printer is connected.
