vista install help

I am about to install Vista onto my PC that already contains XP Pro.

I would like to do a clean install of Vista into a new hard disk partition.

What sort of partition will I need to create; extended or primary??

I tried the install with empty unpartitioned drive space but I have a RAID
drive and vista couldn't see the empty space.

thanks in advance for your hrlp.

You'd need to create at least a primary partition...
however I think I'd hold off on installing Vista...at least until sp1 is
out.

Maybe temporarily disconnect your RAID and perform a "test" install of Vista
on a spare drive.

If it works well...then go ahead and use your RAID array...
but if it flops...then you can still go back to your (presumed) working XP
installation

Hi Andy,

Create a primary, but do not format it, let Vista setup do that. However,
you will likely need a Vista compatible RAID driver before setup will see
the array regardless of whether or not you create a volume for it.
