Vista HP - HP 9110

Talk about a disappointment. Have not been able to locate a driver for my HP
9110 officejet MFP. With XP Home/Pro the device worked fine. Have installed
Vista Home Premium and now I can't talk to the scanner - Microsoft Office
2007 Document Scanning function can't see the scanner.

Why did I bother?

Or is this a case of Microsoft holding me hostage to upgrade to
"Ultimate".... Ultimately, I guess I'm the fool for upgrading...

Another dissatisfied customer.

This is not MS' fault or Vista's fault...and upgrading to Ultimate will
*not* solve the problem. HP has been (and continues to be) a real pain
about providing fully functional Vista drivers for their products. I
have a 3015 that now just prints...I can't scan or fax because HP is not
working on updating their toolbox software. Well...their tech support
tells me each month that it will be another month before they release an
update...that's been going on since January.

Check HP's web site if you haven't already for updated drivers/software.
And if you happen to personally know the CEO of HP, ask him to fix this
problem.

Good luck.

Did you look at the HP website? They are the folks who write the drivers,
not Microsoft. Let's see, I click on the Search for Drivers & Downloads,
and type in 9110.... and

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...odTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=376170&taskId=135

Look, it says Windows Vista right on the page!!! Amazing!

They even have detailed instructions:

No the scan feature isn't supported. HP chose not to include that part.
It's apparently an older unit and they decided it wasn't economically
viable. That's their choice, part of their corporate business plan is to
make a profit for their shareholders.

Isn't it more correct however to say that Microsoft changed WIA so that it
does not recognize TWAIN?

I run my much older scanner under VISTA (and W2K and XP before) by using
the HP software that itself uses TWAIN. It all runs perfectly for scanning
and copying under VISTA and I even find the Scan to links are in Irfanview
and in MS WORD XP
