Vista Home: Administrator can't download from Windows Update

HR Puffinstuff

I have a personal Dell XPS laptop. Today, I tried doing a system restore
but Vista advised that it couldn't complete the process after many failed
attempts. I have removed all the restore points but the first one and when
that didnt work, I disabled system restore, rebooted, and then renabled
system restore same problem.

Finally, I went to Windows Update and I got an error message that only
Administrator can update. I checked the settings in Users and I am
Administratror and I am logged into that account. In fact the two user
accounts are both Administrators.

We are using latest Vista Home.

Any idea how to fix?

Thanks

Hmm, you didn't say what the original problem was. I don't suppose you
want to run System Restore for laughs or to see how it works...

Did you try right click, Run as Administrator?

As a last resort, your Dell comes with a Recovery partition that lets you
restore the computer to factory defaults...
