Vista Forgetting to Apply Custom Mouse Pointers

I have set a couple of custom mouse pointers via the Control Panel (just
Normal Select and Link Select for now, but I plan to add others.) However,
every time Vista starts up, I'm back with the default mouse pointers. If I go
into the Mouse Settings dialog box, I'll see that my custom pointers are
still currently selected, and clicking OK sets the custom pointers again
(even though the Apply button is greyed out because I didn't make any
changes.)

I've tried Saving a new Scheme with my custom pointers, but that doesn't
prevent Vista from reverting to default on startup. How can I get Vista to
use those pointers from startup?

If you save the scheme and apply it then they should start up right away.
It could be that Vista is not recognizing the format that they are in that
is why you have to manually force them to start.

Hmm...I can tell you the custom pointers are .cur files made with the
Freeware program PixelToolbox. Does that help at all?
