Vista downgrade to XP

When you purchase a new computer and it comes with Vista the license reads
similer to this but not exactly I only remember reading it.

With the Vista you may choose to use an older version of Windows instead of
Vista such as Windows 2000 or Windows XP etc.

What I want to know is I do have a Vista machine and I am in a search for XP
drivers.

What I want to know is since Micosoft allows the use of the Vista license
with an older version of Windows how would one go about using the Vista COA
and Product Key to install XP instead of Vista.

I would love very much to save this machine but trash an operating system
that needs an operation itself.

Thanks

you cannot use the vista product keys to install older OS.I doubt that
Windows 95 or 98 would even allow a 25 digit keycode.. just because they
were ten-digits if I remember right.

You will need to already have a previous Os together with the key for it.

The license term to downgrading is only meaning "you are allowed to
downgrade a machine with a Vista License to a specific OS that was avalaible
before but keep the license attached to the machine ", how you will manage
this is up to you then.. ask your OEM, if they swap the disks vista for xp,
but I doubt it.

Thanks I have plenty of XP machines and licenses so getting a disk and
product key is not an issue, what is an issue is if you install the same
license key on two machines one may say it is not a ligit copy of XP because
the license key is already used elsewhere. So how really do you do this
downgrade and stay ligit?
