Vista domain logon

I recently put vista on my laptop, which is an HP with a 64 bit athlon
processor and 1 gig of system memory. I have been using it for a few days and
wanted to get onto my work's domain. I was able to join the domain pretty
easily, and when I restarted the computer i could log in. But after it would
say "logging in" the screen would stay on "setting up your desktop"
permanently. the only way I could get the screen to go away was to turn my
computer off. I could then boot in safe mode with networking and it would
load up fine and I could access all of the network drives and the internet.
Anyone with any ideas, your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The first time you join a domain, Vista will take quite a while to prepare
your account profile and desktop settings. This is a one-time occurance, so
just be patient the first time, go get a cup of coffee or two.

From then on, each time you login, everything will be back to normal speed.

Also, make sure that your first DNS entry in your network setup is for your
local Active Directory (usually on the domain controller).
