Lets skip the whole "double" argument, because it's moot.
Without RAID, you are guaranteed downtime when a drive fails. With
RAID, you may or may not have downtime when a drive fails.
See the difference?
Dennis has lots of trouble understanding simple concepts.
Personally I'm not thrilled with RAID and would only use it for server
type situations. Otherwise I much prefer to simply backup by direct
file to file copying to some external drive. In a worse case situation
all I've lost is what didn't get backed up since the last backup
event. Otherwise I'm back in business quickly. If you use something
like Bounceback it is both fast and painless with it only backing up
what's changed or is missing and offering to purge what you've deleted
since the last backup and it runs quietly and quickly in the
background. So even managing close to 2 TB files data it's a piece of
cake to stay current with backups.
