Vista Defender blocks NOD32 Antivirus???

S

Stan Kay

Whenever Vista starts it tells me that it has blocked my NOD32 Antivirus and
I am required to specifically unblock it before it will work. Whilst I can
get NOD to work the process is rather irritating. Unfortunately I cannot
find a way to get Defender to accept that NOD32 is OK.

Defender provides the following information:-

NoD32 Antivirus System
File Name: nod32kui.exe
Display Nunee NoD32 Antivirus System
Description: N0D32 control Center GUI
Publisher Eset
Digitally Signed By: NOT SIGNED
File Type: Application
Startup value: "D:\Program Files\Eset\nod32kui.exe" /WaitService
File Path: D:\Program Files\Eset\nod32kui.exe
File Size: 949376
File version: 2, 70, 39
Date Installed: 13/07/2007 23:24:59
Startup Type: Registry: Local Machine
Location: Software\Microsoft\windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Classification: Not yet classified
Ships with Operating System: No
SpyNet voting: In Progress

Incidentally, I have uninstalled and re-installed NOD32 several times and
also used the "Run as Administrator" option but I always get the same
outcome.

Can anyone please offer any help?

I'm sorry I don't know what is causing your problem but I have had no issues
with Defender blocking my NOD 32. It loads perfectly and quickly.

I'm sure a knowledgeable person will provide you with a solution to your
problem.

Have a nice day.

I suggest you get in touch with NOD32 Tech Support. I got NOD32 installed
too with WD running. It's not having any problems like that. I did have a
problem after the purchase of NOD32, where it reverted back to the trial
version, which had expired. :) Thec Support responded quickly and got that
fixed.

I did notice that LAST INSTALLED in your WD NOD32 description has got some
kind of funky date.

I am not having that problem with NOD32 and WD. I did notice that the
Install Date for NOD32 in the WD description doesn't look right.

When you uninstalled NOD32, did NOD32's entry stay in WD or was it removed?

I wonder what would happen if you somehow manually removed that NOD32
entry out of WD, which the Remove button is not active not on mine
anyway, and then uninstall/reinstall NOD32 to get its entry put back
fresh in WD?

You may have to get in touch with NOD32's tech support to help you.

That's funny. I sent the post at 11:00 pm and it shows up around 5 am.
Where did the post travel to the next galaxy and back?

Your not the only one, I currently have the free-trail version:

File Name: nod32kui.exe
Display Name: NOD32 Antivirus System
Description: NOD32 Control Center GUI
Publisher: Eset
Digitally Signed By: NOT SIGNED
File Type: Application
Startup Value: "C:\Program Files\Eset\nod32kui.exe" /WAITSERVICE
File Path: C:\Program Files\Eset\nod32kui.exe
File Size: 949376
File Version: 2, 70, 39
Date Installed: 8/6/2007 8:42:17 AM
Startup Type: Registry: Local Machine
Location: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Classification: Permitted
Ships with Operating System: No
SpyNet Voting: Not applicable

BTW: I think the date is in European form D/M/Y (July 13, 2007)

Looking into it, trying different security changes. What I'm thinking is
that I installed with WD off and that may have caused the issue. Going to
try reinstalling the program with WD activated.
