Vista & CanoScan 5200F

Kim S

Running Vista 64-bit.
MB is Asus P5W DH Deluxe, Intel Core Duo and 4Gb RAM.
Have installed Canon drivers for Scanner for Vista 64Bit.
During boot, the scanner is initialised and it appears correct in
My Computer/Units.
But both Vista's scannerprogram and VueScan claims there is
no scanner attached. Have tried different USB-port.
What can I do ?

Regards, Kim

I'm having the same problem with my Canoscan 8400F. It DOES work with
the Canoscan tools, but the Vista scanning program reports that "no
scanner is detected." I've installed the Vista 32-bit driver from Canon
and rebooted a couple of times. The scanner shows up in Device Manger,
but not in the Scan-and-Fax applet.

What gives?

Ditto for me.

My 8400F scans in all applications BUT Windows Scan and Fax. I sent an email
to Canon but am not holding my breath. MS is also trying to help me but I
haven't got the patience to go through all the hoopla they are asking.

I contacted Canon about my 8400F scanner. Their reply was that their
scanners do NOT RELY on Windows WIA but is TWAIN driven; therefore, the
program will not recognize the scanner.

Where is there a generic WIA driver for scanners?????????????

That fits in with it using TWAIN to communicate. Be thankful it works!
