vista and pocket pc

I have brought a new computer with vista home installed and it will not let
me connect my pocket pc. I have tried everyway possible that i know i have
the original disc for the pc, but it keeps telling me their is a conflict
with vista. WHY?

Ignore ActiveSync, which doesn't work with Vista, and install
