vista absolutly crawling on sinlge core 1800 mhz 1 gig ram

Vista of the Apes

I tried it... gave it a go.. at first things seemed to work ok...

after I installed a few hefty VISTA COMPATIBLE applications... the crawling
commenced...

All drivers were also from vista itself.. I added no extra ones.. only those
from vista and autoupdate

the crawling became so slow that it was a joke... it reminded me of a 386
with 8 mb ram trying to run windows 95

then came the blue screens!!!! lol Finally I gave up... that machine cant
work with Vista even though MS claims that it should...

What a mess.... when is vista going to be out of beta? It is out beta you
say?
THAT'S WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO THINK! lol

Wait! there is a Microsoft product that works EXTREMELY well fast stable...
its called Microsoft windows XP!

I have my HDD partitioned for Kubuntu 7.04, the iso is downloading as we
speak...

but dont think that would be any better.. lol getting it to work with dual
screens is a pain in the posterior....

I just added another 256 of ram on the vista 1.8 ghz.... so now I have 1.25
I removed some startup things... and now at least it seems to work... slow
but at least it works...

Now to install some more applications and see how slow it will crawl.... lol

Installing apps does not cause any significant system impact - but running
them can.
You say these are "hefty" apps - what do you mean? Does your system meet or
significantly exceed the system requirements for these "hefty" applications?
Are you trying to run more hen one "hefty" app at the same time ?
Do you have all of the Vista effects turned on that will cause an increase
in base system requirements and lower system performance on systems at the
lower end of specification.

Then go to the vendors websites and get their latest Vista drivers. The
ones on the DVD are anything up to a year old. Many manufacturers have
release better drivers since then and these may not have been on auto
update.

It's commonly known that you want at least 2 gig ram for Vista.

That's just not true.
I have 2gb of ram now on a new laptop but I ran Vista just fine on a machine
with 1gb.
It depends on the applications you run & how many you run simultaneously.
