Vista 64 problem with DVD

I tried to install Vista on a new computer: ABIT AW9D, 4Gb RAM Intel Core 2
Duo E666, on board SATA DISK raid and new NEC-DVD burner AD-5170 IDE. After
several tries with the Vista-64 DVD hanging and asking for DVD-drivers .
Then I installed Win XP-64 on the computer with success from the DVD-drive.
Then I installed Vista from the Iso with WinRar. Everything but the DVD is
working. I can see the DVD-drive in “My Computerâ€. If I install a DVD (or
CD) the system examine the DVD in ca 5 minutes. Most other operations hang
in this period. The system could not read any DVDs (or CDs). I have tried to
install a CD-player with the same results.
I have tried to update the drivers for the DVD but Windows-update says they
are the newest they have.
Are the drivers to a controller wrong or do anyone have other suggestions. I
am happy for all help.
