Virus overload... Wont log in

Im running XP Home Edition with 3 user accounts. The computer has no virus
protection cuz i got lazy... Sorry everyone!!!

Its gotten so bad it wont log in on any of the users. All i want is to
access stuff on the harddrive to back it up. Then ill format it and start
again properly. (with proteciton =).

In safe mode none of the 3 users will log in, the administrator account wont
log in, and the guest account is turned off. They say loading user settings
or what ever, and it ends there, and when in safe mode, it says loading user
settings, then goes to a blank screen and stays there.

All i want is to access the files on the hard drive for cd burning posisbly.
Any help at all appriciated...

Slave the drive in another XP or Win2k computer that does have good up
to date AV and copy the important data - hoping you don't infect the
other system.

There are good, free AV solutions including Avast and AVG.

Yeah Burn all the Viruses to CD then you can transfer them to a clean
install.

Well Ice, because you got so lazy you don't deserve any help around here. Go
and fix the problem yourself.

I dont have another system to slave the drive to... Is there no way to access
files on a hard drive through dos? and if there is is there a means of
getting them onto a cd?
Thanks for quick feedback

You could try booting from CD to the Recovery Console. Or make a boot floppy
from another computer. That should at least get you to a DOS prompt.

:

Create a Bart's PE bootable CD, boot from this and save the data. This
has to be made on another XP system.

Another option, if you have to CD's one of which is a burner, is to
download a Linux distro called Knoppix. This will create a bootable CD.
Use the backup program from that to copy to the CD.

If the data is that important to you, you should be able to find another
XP system from someone to "borrow".

Sorry for your problem but you created it and now you want some easy,
simple solution out of it?

Good luck to you.

Ok you didn't backup first but did a repair install, backed up and then
a clean install. Thanks for posting back.
