Virus or Spyware problem Related to Google

Jack Bruss

My Google home page has been taken over by a screen that says it has
detected spyware on my computer and suggests links to go to to fix the
problem. If I click the links I go to www.e-shredder.com, and they want me
to pay to fix the problem. I've run adaware, spybot, cwshredder, and avg
anti virus twice each in an attempt to get my browser back, but none of
these has worked.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jack

that could be a pop up ad or something similar. It may be just an
advertizement.I use Spybot S&D and ADAware for spyware and ad removal.

Yes sometimes the bastards who write this stuff are one step ahead. There
are some nasty adware/spyware programs out there at the moment that don't
seem to be fixed by Ad-aware, Spybot or Pest Patrol. It's just taken me
three days solid to get rid of Webhancer and Roings from my wifes PC. The
story and my solution here ....

Sounds like a scam.

Spyware removal apps are free. Use them.

Try this: disable System Restore, then reboot into Safe Mode and run all
the tools (Spybot, AdAware, antivirus etc) again. Does that do the trick?

Just for info... This didn't work for me recently but I got it clean in the
end... I was infected with Webhancer and Roings. I booted into safe mode and
ran Ad-aware, Sypbot S&D and Pest Patrol (both each on their own and one
after another). They appeared to remove the problem but in face left
processes enabled in the startup. The lot came right back after rebooting. I
eventually cleaned it using the Taskmanager and MSconfig to disable 60 (yes
sixty) suspect processes and then ran Ad-aware. PC has been fine now for
about three days.
