Virus in WININIT.EXE - What to do?

Jon

AXBX trial Virusfinder 2007, on my first use of the antivirus software,
reports I have a dangerous virus in WININIT.EXE.
My WININIT came with the Gateway Microsoft Vista machine and has something
to do with start up applications. It sits in C:Windows/System32, size 96774
bytes (98,304 bytes on disk). Created Thursday, November 02, 2006, 44:44:42
Am . It is v 6.0.6000.16386.
I susect AXBX gave a false reading of a virus. Does your WININT.EXE have the
same size anhd date as mine? Anyone else get viruses in WININIT? Any
suggestions on what to do?

I've never heard of "AXBX trial Virusfinder 2007" but I Googled for
"Virusfinder 2007". This is not what you want to use for antivirus
protection. The problem you describe above is most probably a
false-positive. Use a well-known and proven antivirus program instead.
Recommended ones are NOD32, Kaspersky, and Avast if you want a free one.
