Virus in Attachments option

I regularly receive an email containing two files as attachments from a
person I know. For some reason, IE has started blocking one of the files so
I cannot not open it. For a while, when this started, I could go to
Tools|Options|Security Tab and uncheck the box with the message

"Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially
be a virus"

This would allow me access to the blocked file. Then I would again got to
Tools|Options|Security TAb and recheck the box

Lately, when I try to uncheck the box I cannot do so because it is grayed
out and I cannot modify it. Any idea on why it can no longer be changed?

No , this is OK. I get one of the two attachments that they send. It is
always one specific file that gets tagged. My real question is why the
option in the security tab is grayed out.

That particular registry setting would cause the option to be grayed out.

As a workaround, you might be able to modify the setting, and gain access
to the attachment, by changing the value of this key from 1 to 0

Safe Attachments

at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{***Long alphanumeric class id
***}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0\Mail

Then restarting "Outlook Express"

No, I am not blocking attachments. The sender has attached two files. One
comes through OK, but the other gets tagged. My main concern is why I
cannot change the setting to block suspect attachments.
