Virus Doctor removal

Lo and behold I got this Virus Doctor bug despite updated Norton prevention
and a cautious mindset. Google produced a list of sites for removal-- some
of which look suspicious themselves. They give an incomplete, confusing or
otehrwise dubious set of "manual removal" instructions and then pitch the
preferred automatic version of "GotchaWare" (or whatever) for $$$.

Can somone offer a set of instructions or a trusted site for removal of this
nuisance?

Thank you in advance.
