Virtual Pc 07/Firewire Audio Interface

I am running Vista Ultimate. I record audio a lot, but my good firewire
audio interface does not work with windows vista.
So I thought I would try virtual pc 07. My concern is will it cooperate
with the interface, or will the host computer just deal with it, or what?
I'm not sure if virtual pc was intended to help with hardware/peripheral
incompatibilities or just software/applications.
Also, I am planning on putting the VPC on my external usb 2 hard disk.
Would it be any easier to just try and load xp on my external and choose
which to boot from at login, or is virtual pc in fact the way to go?
Thanks.

No, firewire is not part of the virtual hardware in VirtualPC. In fact, it
doesn't even have USB, which biggest disadvantage it has compared to VMWare,
IMO.

a virtual machine does not use hardware like tv tuners, firewire ports or
any other thing you may have on the host pc

its virtual

if you want compatibility use XP, that is still the best Windows you can
find

you cannot install Windows on an external Hard drive (USB)

make a new parition on a normal hard drive (not USB) and install xp dual
boot with vista
