Virtual Memory Quota or Pagefile Size insufficient to continue operation

Hi all,

I browsed all posts subjects for this issue but found no suitable entries.

I just purchased a SONY VAIO with XP Home.
I upgraded it to XPP and got that message after last reboot:

"Virtual Memory Quota or Pagefile Size insufficient to continue operation"

then system reboots for ever.

I restored the genuine disk and checked VM management and automatic
reboot param. VM was set to a fixed vaue of 768 Mo instead of "computed
by system" as recommended, and automatic reboot was enabled (as usual).

I disabled automatic reboot and enabled system computed VM, then
restarted my upgrade.

Same result.

Now what?

Many thanks,

If you needed XP Pro why didn't you purchase a Sony model that had
that version included? According to the Sony website it is a $100
option on a new notebook.

Because I purchased it in a shop.

Problem fixed. The XPP upgrade that I tried to install is a 2001 version
without the SP1, which cannot be installed on an XPH with SP1.

Thanks for your attention.

Make sure also that if you moved the pagefile to a partition other than
C: you left a certain amount (say initial 2 max 100) on C: as well.

But if it is an NTFS partition for C: you should check the other
suggestion in the message: in My Computer r-click on C:, Properties and
if there is a Quota page uncheck 'Enable Quota management' on it
