Virtual Machine

Tech help screwed me up and had me reformat my hard drive
(as it turns out, my mother board went bad, so the
reformat was unnecessary). Now when I go to certain
sites, I am told that the Microsoft Virtual Machine is
required to view the site and I get a bar to download
it. Then another page crops up telling me that it is
unavailble for download and I can get it from Window
update. I can't find it there in any recognizable form.
Can anyone help? Thankx!!!!

1. Go to the Windows Update site.
2. Click on 'Personalize Windows Update'
3. Make sure 'Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under See Also'
is selected.
4. Click on 'Windows Update Catalog' under 'See Also'
5. Click 'Find updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems'
6. Select your Windows Version from the List, eg. 'Windows XP SP1'
7. Click on 'Advanced search options'
8. In the 'Contains these words:' field enter 'vm'.
9. Click 'Search'
10. Select 'Critical Upates and Service Packs' from the list.
11. Add the item '816093: Security Update Microsoft Virtual Machine
(Microsoft VM) - (Posted Date: June 03, 2003)' to the Download Basket.
12. Click 'Go to Download Basket'
13. Click 'Browse' to select a folder on you hard drive to save the
installation file.
14. After the Download has completed start the downloaded installation
programm to install the Mircosoft Virtual Machine.

hi

I had this problem too. microsoft doesnt have virtual
machine anymore. is owned by sun systems. get the java
download program which is free from www.sun.com i think
that is correct address but do a search using the
words "java update" and it will find it for you.
download the free java program then go into your control
panel and u will see a cup of coffee, lol. click on it and
it will come up with the java control panel. click on
browswer and then tick on microsoft internet explorer if
u are using IT. this should do the trick for you mind
you dont know if it definitely will but that is what i
did under my sons supervision he is a computer engineer.
hoping you have happy gaming :)

Not all web sites work with Sun's version. I would suggest you go to
Start/Run and type in "wjview" without the quotes. This will tell you which
version of Microsoft's Virtual Machine you have running on your system, if
any.

Java VM for all OS's should be available through Windows Update. See MS
Security Bulletin MS03-011, Flaw in Microsoft VM Could Enable System
Compromise (816093)

If you need to install a previous Build first before installing the patch,

then:

For Microsoft Java VM, Build 3809:

Java VM for all OS's except Win2k The file msjavwu.exe, available here:

http://www2.whidbey.com/djdenham/File_store/msjavwu.exe to be used instead
of msjavx86.exe is an MS VM updated to Version 3809 for non-Win2k users.
