I had been loading a game to my hard drive ("no cd needed in cd-rom")
and now I am lumbered with this phantom dvd/cd rom drive "G". Any
burning attempted on Nero gets the message "drive being used by another
xxxxxx". Any and all advice on clearing this drive gratefully received.
TIA

Try to disable it with the program. And if this not work, go to device
manager, expand DVD/CD rom devices and right click your virtual cd/dvd drive
and choose uninstall and hope that the program will not make it again.

Thanks for your helpful response, Ayush. This "virtual" drive does not
appear on "device manager". I will go thro' all my program files to see
if I can find the software responsible.

The easiest way to get rid of this drive is to uninstall it using the program
that you installed it from.

Next would be to go to Device Manager (Start...Run...type in "devmgmt.msc"
(without the quotes) and press Enter). Then scroll through the devices to
see if you can locate this drive. Once located, you can right click on it
and select Disable or Uninstall.
