virtual CD drive

I would like to map hard drive folders as virtual logical
CD drives instead of buying a CD changer.
It would also provide better performance than a physical
CD changer.
NOTE: some CD programs insist on seeing a logical CD drive
for extensive data content. (this was OK when hard drive
space was expensive)
In other words, in addition to simply mapping a folder as
a hard drive using the SUBST command, the mapped folder
must look like a logical CD drive to the system, not a
hard drive.

Is there anyway to do this ??? Thanks...

The question seems a bit OT here.
I know of no tool working on flat folder structures to emulate a CD.
Nearly all halfway actual virtual cd emulators offer the function
based on cd's copied to an iso file or own special format. Even nero or
winoncd burn programs offer this functionality (at least inplatinum/
power vers.) www.nero.com http://www.roxio.com/

Virtual CD has this combined with an editor to change the cd-image
lateron. Aside from beeing this the most spread solution it is a
commercial one. http://www.virtual-cd.com/main.html
The most widely known free version (for personal use) is daemon tools.
The actual version 3,41 is capable of mounting also some other images.

I own virtual CD, and it has worked well for me in the past.
I have also used Nero DriveImage (which does not appear to be included in
the versions since 5.0) only works for .nrg files, i think.
I have also used DaemonTools to mount ISO files.

These are all viable solutions, and yes, they do perform better than
physical drives.

NERO ImageDrive was a separate download in the 5.5x series. I don't
know about 6.x And it does do ISO as well.

Ok, good to know.

The last time i tried to use it (couple weeks ago), the version i had would
only show me .nrg files, for some reason????

Oh well...
