Viral Infection

Alan

When booting my PC up for the first time in a couple of
weeks, my machine began showing signs of viruses.
The first sign is a "Windows Installer" stays in a
continuous run state and keeps giving references to my
Microsoft Money 2003 program.
Secondly I keep getting repetitive messages that says
RUNDLL
Error Loading C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~2\ADDRES~1\cnbabe.dll
The specified module could not be found.

Norton Anti-Virus detected two types of viruses, the
downloader.MSCache and the Downloader.Trojan

I have done everything that Norton instructed me to do
but to no avail. I did Uninstall the MS Money program
but nothing that I have tried will remove the RUNDLL
error message. Since I have been typing the help message
it have popped up 50+ times.
Any help that anyone could offer would be greatly
appreciated.

Since you say you booted up after a couple of weeks, I
assume you only rarely do Windows Updates and anti-virus
updates. There are hundred of new and altered virus every
week and Windows Updates at least every month. For your
security and on-line safety, you should :
1. Run a firewall
2. When you first turn your computer ON, before doing
anything else, update your anti-virus
3. Check for Windows Updates and apply the critical updates.

Only then can you surf or do email with reasonable safety.

Don't forget to turn off System Restore, before any of
the deletion process, or the virus may remain in the
system restore files. Good luck.
