viewing website internally

problem seeing exteral website internally; i have dns
record "www" pointing to exteral web ip; i can see web by
typing ip address but not by domain name?
Any ideas? could there be a host file hidden?

Well, does the name actually resolve to the IP? And what is the error
you receive?
