Viewing Movies - more - what's a ".PAR2" file

Ok. I asked what kind of movie a " .rar " movie is and what movie
viewer is needed to view it (Windows Media Player doesn't play it),
now, what about a movie file that ends in " .PAR2 " ?

RAR isn't a movie format, it's a compressed archive format, like ZIP. You'll
need a RAR file extractor, like WinRAR to get extract the contents of it.

RAR files are often split into multiple parts, the first one just called
..RAR and the others each having sequential numerical suffixes. Just open the
RAR file and it should automatically access any additional parts.

Read the documentation for WinRAR. I assume it comes with some
documentation. The rarlab.com web site is worthless for getting help on
their product. According to http://filext.com:

PAR2 Parity Archive Volume Set

Go to www.filext.com and then you will find Par2 there with complete details as to what it is and how to access it. Keep this site in your favourites as it will tell you of most file extensions out there. In this case it's a Parity Archive Volume Set. Good luck.

OK, so having read your post properly I see that I answered the wrong
question. The only reference I can find to PAR2 files so far is:

http://www.quickpar.org.uk/index.htm

Yes thanks. I did have two posts, one asking about RAR files and the
other asking about PAR2 files.

The RAR file extractor is not free, but it is shareware and can be
used for 40 days before you need to pay. It took a few tries and then
I saw the idiot button and it did everything for me. I was hoping
there was a free version of a RAR file extractor but I don't think
anyone has written one.

And thanks for the link to the PAR2 file extractor - I think it will
work. It is freeware. Donations can be given but not mandatory. If
the "uk" in the address stands for United Kingdom, then maybe PAR2 is
popular over there ??

True, strictly speaking WinRAR isn't free, although to be honest the copy
I've got didn't stop working after 40 days, it just started nagging me about
it when I open it.
