View IMAP account in Folder List expanded by default

Outlook 2003 creates a seperate email account in Mail Folder list but you
have to manually expand it to see the Inbox, new mail does not show under the
IMAP account unless you expand the folder (+). The personal folder list
remains expanded when you close and open Outlook but other accounts like
Hotmail and IMAP do not save their last viewed state. Is there a way to
change a registry setting so it remains expanded all the time. New mail goes
unnoticed by family members who do not think to manually expand the folder.
Thanks for you help in advance.
Cheers

This is the one thing that keeps me using Outlook Express instead of
Outlook.
I can't believe Microsoft is so stupid.

I have 15 IMAP accounts for business and personal, and if I used
Outlook I would have to manually expand each one every time in order to
check whether I have email.

Utterly stupid.
I hope there is a solution for this.

Alas, not in Outlook, it would seem.
