Videos and Viewer

Hello everybody I hope somebody has a solution to a problem I have run
into. I am the system administrator of the Vocera Communication System
(a wireless VOIP communication system - www.vocera.com) at a Hospital
in North Dakota. I have created a training presentation / cd to train
users of the system the proper commands to operate it. The
presentation uses a kiosk style forward and back button to move
through the presentation and also includes the use of the Windows
media player Control. I would like to be able to put this on a cd and
have it playable on any computer here in the hospital. The problem is
that not all our computer have PowerPoint installed (no need for it on
the floors) but they do have the 2003 PowerPoint viewer installed.
Unfortunately the viewer does not work with the windows media control.
I would like to be able to keep it in some sort of Kiosk presentation
format rather then a video format because it allows the user to move
at their own pace during the training. Does anybody have any
suggestions on how I could get this presentation to run on all the
computers while maintaining the style, video and animations with out
installing anything on the computers? I would appreciate any
suggestions anybody has.

Doesn't Insert > movies & sounds > movie from file work for you?

You would need to have the vid and pres in a single folder before you insert
and put the whole folder on the CD.

You might want to look at Udo's excellent free Autorun presenter which
although designed for memory sticks works on CDs too

I would prefer to let the user be able to back up the video and be
able to control the volume since it can vary video to video. I guess
if i cant use the media player it wouldnt be the end of the world but
it would be nice to let the user have some control over the video. I
have found a nice auto run cd program called compact autorunner
www.hamradiousa.net/compactautorunner.html so im good there but Do
you know of any way to give the user more control over the video
playing? or at least the volume?

Blake,

The viewer doesn't support VBA or "controls" which is what the media player
is. You can do much the same thing by using Insert > Movie from File and
then building the controls into the slide. If you need help with that you
may want to look at this tutorial.

Thank You so Much Everyone!!! Now if they only had a volume control
that would work with the viewer i would be set ... oh well guess we
cant have every thing in life ... lol

I don't think there's any volume control that will work in the viewer but you
could maybe try adjusting the sound levels before you insert the vids
(windows movie maker can do this - its not that precise but should help)
