Video to DVD+RW

I sometimes record TV programmes of interest to my hard drive via a WinTV Nova t-USB. The programmes are saved in Mpeg format and play back ok via Media player of Power DVD. I have purchased a Sony DVD+RW as I thought it would be a good idea to transfer the programmes to watch on TV later on my DVD player. However the software that came with the DVD transfers the video except the audio is out of sync with the picture. I have been told by software support (Sonic myDVD) that there is no way round this as Mpeg format will not transfer to DVD. Surely this is what DVD's are recorded in anyway? Can anyone help. Is my purchase of a DVD burner really a waste of time?

The file has to be saved as DVD compatible mpg2 format to burn a DVD. The
are many other ways to burn using different file types.

I use pinnacle 8.x and it will do it all, capture and all the way to DVD. I
used to use 4 programs to do the same thing, but it does it all.

I have problems making a DVD (slide show) out of my pictures. I have them all as jpeg's and music. I do have a dvd burner, 1.5 g drive, use windows xp, have cd/dvd rom. I have made my movie in pennicle studio 8, I can watch in on my computer but I can't burn it... (when I can burn what little information makes it) it won't play on my computer or on a DVD player. I bought -R, -RW, +RW... now my computer is kinda in a "stuck" mode on the "formatting background" (for about 2 hours) after the dvd has burnt and my burner won't open! How long does it usually take for the DVD to finish??? Am I doing something wrong? Or am I missing some program I am needing to make a dvd to watch on my tv? Please help!

Hi -
I think Mpeg 1 is for VCD, Mpeg 2 is for SVCD, and AVI is
for DVD. At least according to my program. However, when
I burned a VCD, I got no sound at all on the disk, though
it played within the software. If you could save a
program as another file type (AVI) you might have success.

Hi, MPEG-2 is for SVCD and DVD. DVD is just encoded at a higher bitrate and
res.
