video problems

Hi,

I often download avi or mpg files from emule or winmx and I try to burn
these to DVD. In general, regardless of what program I try to use to
convert these to DVD format to play on my standard DVD player I get errors
and stalled processes. I have a P4 2.2 mghz, 768mg ram and over 50 gig of
hdd space. I have tried power producer 2 gold, showbiz, my dvd but none of
these will work to convert the files to DVD format without errors on my pc.
I have a page file of 4096mg and a video card of 128mg. I am running xppro
sp2.

Any suggestions how to overcome this problem.

Is there any way that I can diagnose the error log to find out what the
problem is - it could be directx or something - but I am not competent to
work this out.

Any help appreciated.

DVD burning is pretty system intensive.
Try shutting down all background processes not needed.
I use a program called EndItAll prior to burning DVD & CD projects.
Google for it - there are still some sites that offer it for free.
