Video out problems

G

greg

For some reason I get video out (typical PC graphics - desktop,
programs, etc) to my 36" TV but when I attempt to play a movie file
(mpg, avi, etc) I just get a blank screen inside the player. I've
tried several different players (Win Media Player 9, DivX, etc) but
that doesn't seem to make any difference.

I've tried the different players and different resolutions on the
TV...not sure what else to try.

I'm using an chaintech MX4400 256MB card which does a great job aside
from this.

If anyone else has ever heard of anything like this - let me know.

Thanks in advance!
Greg

try updating the drivers if that doesnt do it then your missing the
codecs to play these videos, there are several packs out there but not
all have everything, i recommend k-lite mega codec pack i have never
had a problem playing vids with it on my media center pc or on any
regular pc, it plays everything so download it at http://freecodecs.tk

Updating the drivers is generally good advice.

Greg probably has the right codecs. Greg: I assume those videos play fine
on a VGA or DVI monitor?

I've seen the exact same problem. I suspect installing the latest DirectX
(v 9.0b AFAIK) software from Microsoft may fix this. I just set up a new
video card and will test precisely this. E-mail me for private discussion.

Best luck!
