XP Home system was working fine until a power outage
during a reboot. Hard drive was trashed. Did a full
format and a clean install from the OEM CD. Video came up
huge, but display settings won't offer anything other than
640x480. Device manager won't even launch as if user is
not the administrator. The only user is "Owner" who
appears to be the administrator. No other symptoms are
apparent so far. Do I have two problems? Video driver
and admin? Any suggestions?

try installing the monitor, it sounds like the monitor is
not being detected either if you can only use 640*480,
especially if you are being forced to use 256 color and
60Hz refresh... try installing the monitor as well as
everything else and make sure partitions are set up how
you want them before you go too far in the set up.
