This is the bible of video things, IMHO. The 'edit' section lists many
common tasks and tools. In spite of the many tools available, I often find I
can't find a free way to do what I want!

The freeware version of TEMPGenc is good, but limited to MPEG1, unless you
spring for a license for the MPEG2 codec.
