Video capture problems due to VGA card/ USB 1.0

I just installed a dual port vga card, and as far as I know, it rendered
my other cards useless. Since I couldn't use my Firewire card, I went
out and bought a USB video capture device. Turns out that my USB 1.0
isn't fast enough to effectively capture video. I am confused about 2
things... one: is there a way to use my firewire card? And 2: how do I
make my computer USB 2.0 compatible?

Thanks for your help!!!!

USB 2.0 works only on boards that can run 2.0 from the mfg. Most do since
02 or 03.If the board is capable but isnt running at 2.0.download and install
the chipset installation utility from the mfg web site (intel)....SP1 & SP2
for
xp contain the 2.0 drivers.

First point being your firewire card, exactly what installation have you
done?
Your firewire card is in it's own PCI slot independent of any USB device.
XP supports firewire, you need to try and explain what you've done?
What is listed in Device Manager?
Have you changed BIOS settings?
This is likely to be an IRQ conflict/issue, as USB can only share IRQ with
other
USB devices, etc etc
Your USB host controller, again should be listed/detailed in device manager.
How to check exactly what you have, and if a soft update will help:

You cannot upgrade mobo/on-board USB 1 to USB 2,
You can install a USB2 card though. This is the easiest option.
If a conflict is the issue, you could try uninstalling your firewire
card, and performing a fresh reinstall.

You should try dedicated forums for hardware problems.
