Video Capture Problem: Please Help

Every time I click on the capture video button I get a messeage that reads:
Video device is currently in use. Close any other device that is using the
device and try again. Then I click OK, then get a new warning that reads: The
video device cannot be used at this time because there has been an error when
starting the device.

I don't understand what's happening here? I am trying to capture video from
my 8mm camcorder and and I am using my video card which is an ATI
All-In-Wonder 128 Pro AGP, my system is P4 2.4G, 512 RAM.

Please help

Jeff, I'm having the exact same problem - and I really hope someone can help
us!

I have successfully captured and edited video in Movie Maker tons of times
before, but recently reformatted my harddrive/reinstalled Windows XP and
Service Pack 2. Ever since have been having this "Video device is currently
in use" error.

Was using Hauppauge's WinTV PCI capture card with my JVC camcorder, which
had successfully captured video in Movie Maker before - but once I started
experiencing the problem went ahead and switched over to my Adaptec VideoOh
PCI card. Unfortunately still experiencing the trouble.

Someone please help Jeff and I! We'd appreciate it so much!

Sincerely,
Julie C.

Add my name to the list of people experiencing this "device is currently in
use" issue, except in my case I only get the error message when I try to
capture at any resolution higher than 320x240. I don't think it's a CPU
speed issue, as someone has suggested.

Someone please help Julie C., Jeff C. and Brian H!

I'm having the same problem
Have installed an adaptec VideOh PCI AVC-2010.
The Sonic MyDVD software that came with it recognises the device, however
Windows Movie Maker gives me the error message
