I have set a rule so that a file created in microsoft moviemaker plays.
After testing, I find that the application is opened but the movie is not
played. Not sure it this is the correct forum but no better discussion group
was found. Guidance sought

Did you actually save the file as an .avi or
..wmv video or just a .mswmm project file?

Much thanks for the timely reply. With the "save as" option, I found that
there were no extensions other than *.MSWMM. If there is a way to change the
extension the information would be appreciated.

The .mswmm file is a project file only compatible
with Movie Maker and used for additional editing
purposes.

(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Tick...'Best Quality For My Computer'
Next/
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

Ya i'm having my own problems
you see i want to use .avi videos but for some reason it will not work with
Windows Movie Maker. Also when i try to make it work with Windows Media
Player it just plays the sound and not the video because if i was able to get
that to work i would be able to use the videos in Windows Movie maker alls i
have to do while its playing with Windows Media Player i just have to save
it. How ever this is not the case.

Basically what i am saying is how can i get .avi files to work with Windows
Media Player and Windows Movie Maker 2.1
