Vga Output Failure In IBM Thinkpad 1171

Hello, I am currently attending a Networking 5 advanced class at
Reeths-Puffer high school. I am from muskegon michigan where I am having a
problem with one of my IBM thinkpad laptop computers. Ok so we want our
laptop to output it's VGA to our projection screen but for some reason the
parallel port that we connect the projection screen to isnt projecting
anything at all. We've already installed a new BIOS and we've updated all of
the video drivers. Right now we're thinking that it's a hardware failure but
we are not sure. It currently has a Trident Video Accelerator installed. Does
anyone know the cause of, or how to fix this problem? Does anyone know if
it's a hardware failure or a software failure?

I hope you didn't manage to connect the projector to the parallel port!
The vga connector is what should be used. Also cycling the Fn + F7
button should enable/disable the VGA output on the back of the laptop.
If all else fails, please re-read the operating instructions for the
projector setup.
