I use XP Pro....and I have never used the Remote Desktop Connection. What

What else don't you use and we can decide?

Hi Dave,

It you're upgrading, it has to be Business or Ultimate. If you want a clean
install on a formatted disk, then Home Premium will likely be fine but you
need a full version disk.

The OP would be eligible for an upgrade version, but as the upgrade would
result in reduced functionality, an actual 'upgrade' itself cannot be used.
He would have to do a custom install. Yellow dot in the upgrade matrix ;)

Hello Dave,

There is a very knowledge filled Post located at, Windows Vista General
Discussion, “Subject†Dual Boot Problems, Posted by “jimmuh†that is filled
with learned experiences, well worthy of a read.

Additionally, Microsoft Online Publishes detailed information fully
discussing the various Vista differences, would be the best source for
learning the distinctions within Vista Versions, and then making a purchase
decision very simplified.

You forgot to say that whatever version he decides to use, his life will be
filled with joy and happiness and many sons for having used Vista at all.

If you want to make High Def DVD movies, and also have the capability of
doing a total back-up and restore of your PC, then Ulimate is the way to go;
Home Premium cannot do those tasks, as well as not being able to do Remote
Desktop and Bitlocker Drive Encryption. You can get it a Amazon for $249
USD.

That's $249 for the "Upgrade" version.

If you are willing to go with the OEM version instead of the retail
version, Newegg has Vista Ultimate OEM for $199, which I think is more
or less the "standard" price.
