Open Outlook. I have Outlook 2003. Go to tools. Open tools. Go to e-mail
accounts, and click change. On the next page which will come up for E-mail
settings click near the bottom of the page more settings. On the menu click
outgoing settings. Check my outgoing server requires authentication. Then
check log on and fill in your Verizon user name and password.
I had the same problem you are describing, and the above got outlook to
connect to the Verizon e-mail server and send my outgoing e-mails. Prior to
Verizon FIOS I had Optimum on line. Verizon has a crappie news server,
Ifound thundernews.com had the cheapest news server Usenet service with a
20% discount to Verizon and a few other providers customers.
