Hi - when I compose a new message and attach a vcard as an attachment it
looks fine on my email showing as a business card icon but the recipient just
gets an empty yellow folder as an attachment - can anyone tell me where I am
going wrong?

Many thanks in advance

Hi I have the same problem . Using outlook 2003 sp2 and exchange 2003 sp2 .
When I attach a vcard , or forward a vcard the recipeint only receieves a
..msg attachment that is empty .

But when I send from my outlook 2003 sp2 from home which is not on an
exchange server i don't have any problems .

Did you manage to solve the problem ?

Are you actually using the Forward as vCard command?

Hi Sue

Yes , I am using the forward as vcard command . I right click on a contact
and click forward . I have also tried . going to a new mail message , insert
item , and I select a contact . I have tried to drag a contact into the mail
message .

Internally I can forward vcards . But externally I cannot . I can even try
forward one to you if you send me an email address .

From home , on my outlook that is not linked to an exchange server . I can
forward vcards using all the methods , but in the office , using my exchange
profile the vcard always gets received from external contacts as a .msg file
with nothing in it .

I have tried changing the format of the email to html , rft and plain text
and all options still give the same problem .

The only way which works is to open up the contact and click file , export
to vcard file . Then i save the contact on my desktop , then I can attach it
to an email and send it out , and this works , but there must be a simpler
methods .

We have an exchange 2003 sp2 server and outlook 2003 sp2 running in a domain
..

I appreciate all the help you can give .

"Forward" and "Forward as vCard" are two completely different commands. You should use Forward as vCard to send to external recipients.

Ah Ha , Thank You so much ,

i.e When using outlook in an exchange environment you need to select from
the actions menu , forward as a vcard and not just right clicking and
slecting forward . But in a non exchange environment you can just use the
forward command .

I hope this helps other people as much as it has helped me

Have a great day

Darren

Actually, it's the other way around. Using the Forward command is unlikely to be effective ***except*** in an Exchange environment. When non-Exchange senders or recipients are involved, Forward as vCard is the best choice.
