vat rate calculator

I have a system on microsoft access for our business which is set at 17.5 vat
rate. i need to know how to change this ,as it automatically shows the vat on
my invoices and works it out. this system was put on my p.c by a friend who
unfortunately i cannot contact for help anymore . i am not sure wot to do go
in to to amend to the new rate from dec 1st .please help as i am not much
good with this kind of stuff!!

Unfortunately it depends entirely on how your friend designed the system. If
you are lucky he/she has done the smart thing and the VAT rate to use for
future orders is stored in a table somewhere and will need changing in just
that one place. If you are unlucky then the rate is embedded in code and
formulas all over the system. If you are really, really unlucky then the
system will need major surgery to prevent changing the rate for future
orders also changing it for historical orders.

Howsoever, it sounds like your level of technical knowledge is such that you
are going to need to find someone local to you to take a look at it for you
(you and thousands of others all over the country, not that that is much
comfort for you!)
